Receive Debt Advice From Rich People

Something I learned about finances is that you cannot listen to just anybody. For that matter I decided to receive debt advice from rich people. You see for a long time I was just watching what other people were doing and so I did them as well. Little did I know that I was on my way to becoming broke just like the people that were leading me.

The people around me were into new cars and so I was into new cars. At an early age I owned two brand new cars that were driven off the lot. I know you must be thinking that I paid full price for those. Well yes, I sure did and the value of the car dropped as soon as I drove off the lot.

The people around me were into going out to eat. So since I was single I started to go out to eat for lunch and for dinner every day. In fact not only would I go out to eat but I would pick up the tab often when I would eat with friends and family. I had a lot of people that wanted to hang out with me because of course, I had the new car and I wasn’t shy about spending money, lots of money.

My co-worker had season tickets to the Houston Astros and one day asked me if I was interested in going in with him on purchasing some of those tickets for the following year. I said, sure why not it’s only a couple grand a year, so off to the ballgame I went for two years straight. Was it fun, yes, was it expensive, yes.

After working several years making $30K/year as a young teenager and 20 year old, I had a little in savings and no education.

How did I get there in 2003? I did not receive debt advice from rich people. I was doing what broke people were doing, living for the weekend and not for the future.

I started listening to people like Dave Ramsey, Robert Kiyosaki, John Maxwell, Larry Burkett who I would consider rich people. Rich not only in wealth but in knowledge. Remember, Poor is only a state of mind, even some millionaires are poor so I decided to be rich in knowledge and now i’m becoming financially rich one dollar at a time.

So stop listening to the broke people around you and receive debt advice from rich people and do what rich people are doing. You are on your way!
